Minty Turquoise Nails

The sun has been making more and more appearances and I couldn’t be more excited!! Because of the recent appearance of sunshine, I decided to bust out one of my all-time favorite Spring nail colors: mint. The mint I went with is Turquoise & Caicos by Essie. This color reminds me so much of Tiffany & Co.’s signature color, which is why I think most of you can agree with me when I say it’s one of the best colors ever- based solely on the beautiful jewelry alone. I love using my Tiffany & Co. jewelry boxes as decorations around my room, and I usually drape a small necklace or bracelet across them. The color looks great paired with silver and gold. To play off of this, I added some silver sparkle to my ring finger on each hand to mimic diamonds. To make the silver glitter polish (Set in Stones) pop even more, I painted it on top of a base layer of a neutral color (Toasted Marshmallow). This also made the glitter easier …

Mermaid Inspired Nails

For some reason I’ve been obsessed with mermaids lately. I’m not sure if its their gorgeous long and flowing hair, or the fact that their shell bra’s reminds me of a bikini which, in turn, makes me think of the beach. Meaning, basically I’m jealous that these fictional characters live in a place so warm that all they need is two shells and a fork comb to look great. I think I can officially say the Polar Vortex has gotten to me. Until it’s warm enough to head into the ocean for a swim, the next best way to feel like Ariel is to paint my nails mermaid-esq. I decided to go with one of my favorite polishes Essie’s For The Twill Of It. The metallic sheen that changes colors in different settings is the perfect polish to mimic the changing color of a mermaid’s fin. To add some shine and a “scale” look, I used Hors D’oeuvres, also by Essie. I love this glitter polish because it has both silver and gold which is totally …

Essie’s For The Twill Of It

Lately I’ve been obsessed with the whole 90’s grunge look. Im talking oversized sweaters, combat boots, beanies, ripped jeans, the whole nine yards. Being a 90’s baby, I can remember listening to “Smells Like Teen Spirit” with my super stylish next door neighbor. I always envied her “in your face” band shirts and cool black nail polish; and while my parents may have shook there heads at her disheveled appearance, I always looked up to her as a kind of fashion role model. Because I’ve been rocking faux leather skinnies and oversized flannel tops a lot lately, I’ve been on the hunt for a nail polish that reflected that “devil-may-care” vibe while still being November appropriate. Essie’s Fall 2013 color For The Twill Of It fit the bill! I love the metallic coloring of it and the way it changes in the light. It really plays on the whole holographic trend thats been getting some attention lately as well. Not only is the coloring rad, but if you mess up the polish before it dries …

Essie Chinchilly

This week I went for one of my favorite Autumn colors, Chinchilly by Essie, which is a really awesome grey color.  After finishing, I decided to jazz it up a bit by adding a layer of Set In Stone, also by Essie, on top. I didn’t have a lot of time to spend on my nails, and this quick addition of shine was perfect! It’s just the right amount of sparkle, and I love it! Happy Hump Day!! XOXO Love, Calley Rae

What’s On My Nails Wednesday {4/24/13}

This week, when looking through my polishes I decided to take a dip in the sparkle pool. I recently purchased Essie’s Set In Stones polish and have been itching to try it out. I didn’t want to go full disco with glitter on every nail, I usually save that for special occasions like New Years Eve or Thirsty Thursday, so instead I polished my ring finger and thumb on each hand. At first, I was going to just go with the ring fingers, but the one nail different is so last year, am I right? Also, I was so obsessed with the look of the glitter polish I wanted it on my thumbs, so I could admire it while I text. Don’t judge. The polish is different from other glitter polishes in that it really does look like stones on my nails. Kind of like a glitter mosaic, or a glitter stained glass window. Either way, its love. The base polish I chose is also a new Essie polish perfectly titled Mesmerized. I have been …

What’s On My Nails Wednesday {4/3/13}

One of my favorite accessories is nail polish! Every time I go shopping, whether it be at the Goodwill or Nordstroms, I seem to always come home with another addition to my collection. AKA: I need to go to nail polish rehab, ASAP. I’m pretty sure it all started when I was little and would rock these beauties on a day to day basis.  Anyone else remember these puppies?!! I think it’s awesome that crazy nail polish and nail art have become popular. It’s a super easy and fun way to express yourself ! Since I change my polish every week, I thought it would be fun to share how I accessorize my nails with you. Yay for pretty nails!! Although Spring officially started two weeks ago, the sun here in Indiana came out of hibernation yesterday. I thought I would celebrate with this bright Spring-ish orange Essie polish called Tart Deco. I bought it last summer and was always afraid I couldn’t pull it off. Until now. And let me tell you, I’m rocking …
