Minty Turquoise Nails

The sun has been making more and more appearances and I couldn’t be more excited!! Because of the recent appearance of sunshine, I decided to bust out one of my all-time favorite Spring nail colors: mint. The mint I went with is Turquoise & Caicos by Essie. This color reminds me so much of Tiffany & Co.’s signature color, which is why I think most of you can agree with me when I say it’s one of the best colors ever- based solely on the beautiful jewelry alone. I love using my Tiffany & Co. jewelry boxes as decorations around my room, and I usually drape a small necklace or bracelet across them. The color looks great paired with silver and gold. To play off of this, I added some silver sparkle to my ring finger on each hand to mimic diamonds. To make the silver glitter polish (Set in Stones) pop even more, I painted it on top of a base layer of a neutral color (Toasted Marshmallow). This also made the glitter easier …

Essie’s For The Twill Of It

Lately I’ve been obsessed with the whole 90’s grunge look. Im talking oversized sweaters, combat boots, beanies, ripped jeans, the whole nine yards. Being a 90’s baby, I can remember listening to “Smells Like Teen Spirit” with my super stylish next door neighbor. I always envied her “in your face” band shirts and cool black nail polish; and while my parents may have shook there heads at her disheveled appearance, I always looked up to her as a kind of fashion role model. Because I’ve been rocking faux leather skinnies and oversized flannel tops a lot lately, I’ve been on the hunt for a nail polish that reflected that “devil-may-care” vibe while still being November appropriate. Essie’s Fall 2013 color For The Twill Of It fit the bill! I love the metallic coloring of it and the way it changes in the light. It really plays on the whole holographic trend thats been getting some attention lately as well. Not only is the coloring rad, but if you mess up the polish before it dries …

Masque Bar Brightening Sheet Mask Review

Lately on Instagram I’ve been seeing celebrities like the girls from Pretty Little Liars using sheet face masks. I had never seen a sheet mask and knew I had to try one. I’ve always liked using masks {I typically go for the clay kind} and love trying new ones. So you can only imagine my joy when I spotted this little beauty on display at Target. It’s by the company Look Beauty {which, until now, I had never heard of} and it claims to brighten dark spots in thirty minutes. Although a little skeptical, I thought I would give it a try. I have some post-acne marks and won’t turn away product that claims it can help lighten them. The set comes with three individually packaged sheet masks. I like that they are individually packaged because they can be stored easily, and don’t take up much room at all. Pros: I was pleasantly surprised with the mask itself. Like I said, I can be a tad skeptical, so I wasn’t expecting too much out of …

What’s On My Nails Wednesday {4/24/13}

This week, when looking through my polishes I decided to take a dip in the sparkle pool. I recently purchased Essie’s Set In Stones polish and have been itching to try it out. I didn’t want to go full disco with glitter on every nail, I usually save that for special occasions like New Years Eve or Thirsty Thursday, so instead I polished my ring finger and thumb on each hand. At first, I was going to just go with the ring fingers, but the one nail different is so last year, am I right? Also, I was so obsessed with the look of the glitter polish I wanted it on my thumbs, so I could admire it while I text. Don’t judge. The polish is different from other glitter polishes in that it really does look like stones on my nails. Kind of like a glitter mosaic, or a glitter stained glass window. Either way, its love. The base polish I chose is also a new Essie polish perfectly titled Mesmerized. I have been …

What’s On My Nails Wednesday {4/3/13}

One of my favorite accessories is nail polish! Every time I go shopping, whether it be at the Goodwill or Nordstroms, I seem to always come home with another addition to my collection. AKA: I need to go to nail polish rehab, ASAP. I’m pretty sure it all started when I was little and would rock these beauties on a day to day basis. ¬†Anyone else remember these puppies?!! I think it’s awesome that crazy nail polish and nail art have become popular. It’s a super easy and fun way to express yourself ! Since I change my polish every week, I thought it would be fun to share how I accessorize my nails with you. Yay for pretty nails!! Although Spring officially started two weeks ago, the sun here in Indiana came out of hibernation yesterday. I thought I would celebrate with this bright Spring-ish orange Essie polish called Tart Deco. I bought it last summer and was always afraid I couldn’t pull it off. Until now. And let me tell you, I’m rocking …

My Top Fall Makeup Essentials!

When I think of Fall, I think of cozy blankets, warm sweaters, leaves on the ground, and a change in my makeup routine! Changing your makeup a little from season to season is like changing your purse. You’re not going to haul that massive pink beach tote through the snow are you? Unless you are planning a pre-holiday vaycay to Hawaii, I’m going to go with NO! Same goes with makeup. A little tweaking with your makeup products each season can make all the difference. Fall is a cooler month, so typically we reach for more neutral clothing and our makeup should compliment that. I’ve put together some of my essential makeup products for Fall 2012! 1: Cute Makeup Bag! If you don’t have one, get one. Nobody wants to borrow lipstick from someone who’s makeup is stored in a ziplock bag! 2: It’s said the eyes are the windows to the soul, and the eyelashes are the curtains. Ok, I may have made the last part up, but big, bold lashes are hot and …
