Thrifted Style: Oversized Sweater

Fall is my favorite season for fashion. I love the rich colors, comfy clothing, and warm accessories. One item in my closet I always reach for this time of year is an oversized sweater. They are so comfy, cozy, and perfect for cooler weather. What’s so awesome about an oversized sweater, is the fact that you don’t have to spend an arm and a leg to get your hands on one. I found this one at a thrift store last Fall and it has remained one of my favorite pieces for this time of year. I love that it is so versatile and can be easily paired with many different items in my wardrobe. Typically, I like to pair my oversized sweaters with leggings and boots for a casual look, but also like to wear it for more occasional events. I’ve styled three different looks using the same thrifted oversized sweater. They are super easy and I’m sure you can recreate them while putting your own spin on them! Thrifted: Camera Bag

Hello, my name is Calley, and I’m a thrift shop addict. I don’t know if it’s from my Dad teaching me how to haggle at a young age, the thrill of the hunt, or the feeling of joy with an unexpected find, but I’m hooked. I like to hit up my favorite thrift stores about once every two weeks. Since new things are brought in every day, I like to think that I won’t miss anything good if I pop in regularly. Living in a college town, there are plenty of stores to choose from, as well as some really cool finds. I’ve been looking for a fun bag for my new camera since the simple black one that came with it is not me at all. I wanted something different and fashionable, but also functional. What I found was this beauty. Now, I will admit it’s not usually my go-to edgy piece, but thats probably my favorite part about it. It’s a Dooney & Burke small leather backpack. When I first found it {buried …

September Lust List {2013}

Every month I find myself obsessing over fashion magazines, blogs, and websites looking for new ways to amp up my life with, “I can’t live without this” items. Somewhere between my must read list and scarf rolodex, I tend to lose myself. So many new products can be a bit overwhelming, and really through me off from what I really want to add to my wardrobe, kitchen, bookshelf, makeup drawer… you get the idea. So, what’s a girl to do? Answer: Lust List. I’ve been making these since I got my first issue of Teen Vogue when I was a pre-teen. Back then I would cut out my favorite items and glue them to the pages of my N*sync notebook. I loved going through all of the things I wanted and learned how to find and style similar items. Since finding an N*sync notebook is a little harder these days,  I’ve opted to posting my lust items to my blog, which happens to much neater and less sticky. I’ve put together a list of my …

August Favorites

August has brought on a lot of changes for me. I moved back to Indiana, into a new apartment with a new roommate, and had to learn how to use the city transit. FYI: it wasn’t as smelly as I thought, and is superb for people watching. It’s been a busy few weeks, but I have managed to find some new beauty and fashion related products. Here are my best of the best for the month!! 1.) The September issue of Vogue. It’s 902 pages of gloriousness boasts amaze-ball designer ads, a beautiful story about actress and cover model Jennifer Lawrence (pg. 790), and an incredible article about Amanda Lindhout (pg. 436), a woman who was kidnapped and held hostage in Somalia for 15 months! I picked the mag up in the airport and couldn’t put it down. It did add quite the weight to my carry on, but beauty is pain, right? 2.) Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray. Durring the hot summer months, I try to keep hot tools away …

Oops I Did It Again: New Spring Bag!!

I don’t know about you, but I can never have enough bags. Don’t get me wrong I love my shoes, but if I had to pick, I’d say I’m a bag girl all the way. Now that we’re getting into the warmer months, thank goodness!, I get to switch out my more winter-y bags for warm weather appropriate ones. In the colder months, I stick with dark colors like blacks, browns, and maybe the occasional red. When Spring hits, I like to rock lighter colors like pastels and neutrals. Also, my bags in the winter are usually oversized, hobo style bags. In Spring/Summer I love wearing smaller sized cross body bags because A) I don’t carry much around with me during these months, and B) wearing a cross body bag leaves my hands free to do fun summer things like ride a bike or peruse through local flea and farmer’s markets. Plus, I find they tend to look better with breezy summer clothes. That leads me to this beauty. {Pause for reaction} I found this …

Spring 2013 Must Haves!!

The day we thought would never come is finally here. Spring has sprung and I could not be more excited! After what seemed like the longest winter of all time, we can finally bust out the florals and pastels. Goodbye gloves and hello crop tops! In celebration of yesterday being the first day of Spring, I have put together some of my must haves for the warmer season. It will still be a little bit longer until it warms up here in the midwest, but I’m writing this in hopes that Mother Nature will see this post and decide to speed things up a bit. Maybe? Cross you fingers for me! 1:Pastel Polish! If you’re like me, you covet Katy Perry’s crazy cool nail art. While Pinterest makes at-home nail art look easy, us non-artistic polishers who can’t draw a straight line, let alone a red carpet ready manicure, are left with sticky fingers and lack luster nails. Ain’t Nobody Got Time For That! My solution: fun pastel colors. It’s springy, trendy, and super easy. …

Fall Favorites!

Now that Mother Nature has turned the thermostat down, its time to bundle up in oversized sweaters, soft scarves, and sip your favorite holiday drink! My favorite part of Fall would have to be the fashion. {Obvi!} I can’t get enough of the rich textures, deep colors, and festive accessories. Put them all together and I’m in Fall fashion overload, and I love it! I’ve put together a collage of some of my favorite fashion items for Fall 2012. (And yes, Starbucks is a fashion statement). 1: Oversized Sweater! Nothing screams I’m going to enjoy my evening relaxing in style like an oversized sweater. Paired with some leggings and boots, this is perfection. 2: One lip, two lips. Red Lips… I’m in love. A ruby pout is being featured on every fashion forward girl’s lips at the moment. It’s uber-classy and a definite attention grabber. If I can rock it, so can you. Trust. 3: Studs, Studs, Everywhere! This iPhone case takes rocker and merges it with function. It’s a simple way to be a …
