Minty Turquoise Nails

The sun has been making more and more appearances and I couldn’t be more excited!! Because of the recent appearance of sunshine, I decided to bust out one of my all-time favorite Spring nail colors: mint. The mint I went with is Turquoise & Caicos by Essie. This color reminds me so much of Tiffany & Co.’s signature color, which is why I think most of you can agree with me when I say it’s one of the best colors ever- based solely on the beautiful jewelry alone. I love using my Tiffany & Co. jewelry boxes as decorations around my room, and I usually drape a small necklace or bracelet across them. The color looks great paired with silver and gold. To play off of this, I added some silver sparkle to my ring finger on each hand to mimic diamonds. To make the silver glitter polish (Set in Stones) pop even more, I painted it on top of a base layer of a neutral color (Toasted Marshmallow). This also made the glitter easier …

Mermaid Inspired Nails

For some reason I’ve been obsessed with mermaids lately. I’m not sure if its their gorgeous long and flowing hair, or the fact that their shell bra’s reminds me of a bikini which, in turn, makes me think of the beach. Meaning, basically I’m jealous that these fictional characters live in a place so warm that all they need is two shells and a fork comb to look great. I think I can officially say the Polar Vortex has gotten to me. Until it’s warm enough to head into the ocean for a swim, the next best way to feel like Ariel is to paint my nails mermaid-esq. I decided to go with one of my favorite polishes Essie’s For The Twill Of It. The metallic sheen that changes colors in different settings is the perfect polish to mimic the changing color of a mermaid’s fin. To add some shine and a “scale” look, I used Hors D’oeuvres, also by Essie. I love this glitter polish because it has both silver and gold which is totally …

Fall Makeup Must Haves!

Yay for Fall makeup!! In this post I’ve listed my essential cosmetic products for the cooler months, and have tried my best to entice you to try them out as well-yeah, I’m that friend. 1- Bronzer: Even though I love cozy sweaters and warm scarfs, I’m still a little bitter that the sun has gone into hiding and with it, my tan. To keep from looking sickly {it happens to the best of us}, I like to apply a small amount of my NARS Laguna Bronzer, just for some definition and warmth. Don’t go crazy though, less is more when it comes to bronzer in the colder months! 2- Fall Eye Palette: I love playing with warmer eyeshadows in Autumn and this shadow quad by Maybelline in 02Q Natural Smokes is perfect! You can easily transition your look from day to night with these colors, and they look great with a nude lip! Not to mention how convenient it is having all the colors for one look in the same palette. I give this two …

Essie’s For The Twill Of It

Lately I’ve been obsessed with the whole 90’s grunge look. Im talking oversized sweaters, combat boots, beanies, ripped jeans, the whole nine yards. Being a 90’s baby, I can remember listening to “Smells Like Teen Spirit” with my super stylish next door neighbor. I always envied her “in your face” band shirts and cool black nail polish; and while my parents may have shook there heads at her disheveled appearance, I always looked up to her as a kind of fashion role model. Because I’ve been rocking faux leather skinnies and oversized flannel tops a lot lately, I’ve been on the hunt for a nail polish that reflected that “devil-may-care” vibe while still being November appropriate. Essie’s Fall 2013 color For The Twill Of It fit the bill! I love the metallic coloring of it and the way it changes in the light. It really plays on the whole holographic trend thats been getting some attention lately as well. Not only is the coloring rad, but if you mess up the polish before it dries …

Favorite {Drugstore} Fall Lip Colors

This Fall has just been one big experiment for me. It’s my second year being in Indiana and now that I am used to the cold (it’s still in the 70’s in my hometown), I feel like I can fully appreciate what the Midwest Autumn has to offer. From the rich yellows, plums, and reds of the falling leaves to the crystal clear blues of the rivers and streams, I’m in awe. Mother Nature has completely outdone herself and it has inspired me to reflect these bold colors in my fashion and beauty choices. The easier way to do this: lip color. I’ve never personally ventured into the darker lip realm. Sure I’ll throw on a red lip occasionally {aka-Christmas and New Years} but I usually stick to nudes and pinks. Recently the change of weather has me feeling a little bold. {{Exciting!!}} Almost everyday I have done a neutral eye with bold lips. Not only have I gotten loads of complements, but I feel like a whole new person. Weird how that works, isn’t …

Essie Chinchilly

This week I went for one of my favorite Autumn colors, Chinchilly by Essie, which is a really awesome grey color.  After finishing, I decided to jazz it up a bit by adding a layer of Set In Stone, also by Essie, on top. I didn’t have a lot of time to spend on my nails, and this quick addition of shine was perfect! It’s just the right amount of sparkle, and I love it! Happy Hump Day!! XOXO Love, Calley Rae

Masque Bar Brightening Sheet Mask Review

Lately on Instagram I’ve been seeing celebrities like the girls from Pretty Little Liars using sheet face masks. I had never seen a sheet mask and knew I had to try one. I’ve always liked using masks {I typically go for the clay kind} and love trying new ones. So you can only imagine my joy when I spotted this little beauty on display at Target. It’s by the company Look Beauty {which, until now, I had never heard of} and it claims to brighten dark spots in thirty minutes. Although a little skeptical, I thought I would give it a try. I have some post-acne marks and won’t turn away product that claims it can help lighten them. The set comes with three individually packaged sheet masks. I like that they are individually packaged because they can be stored easily, and don’t take up much room at all. Pros: I was pleasantly surprised with the mask itself. Like I said, I can be a tad skeptical, so I wasn’t expecting too much out of …

NAILSPIRATION: FALL LOOK USING O.P.I. TAKE THE STAGE

To celebrate the start of the super spooky month of October, I decided to go with a Halloween-esq color this week. I picked this color up not too long ago at my local Plato’s closet. It’s like a treasure hunt, you never know what your going to find at that store!! The color is a sparkly burnt orange by OPI called Take The Stage. When I saw it my mind immediately thought of hay bales, fall leaves, and pumpkin spice lattes. And for only two dollars, I couldn’t leave it!! It’s so pretty, and I foresee it making an appearance on my nails quite a lot over the next two months. Yay for October!! How are you celebrating the start of Fall & Spooktacular October?? XOXO Love, Calley Rae

What On My Nails Wednesday {9/18}

Technically Fall doesn’t start until next Sunday, but this cool weather has already got me in chunky knit and scarf mentality. To celebrate, I got out one of my favorite nail colors for Autumn, William Tell Me About OPI.  It’s a really pretty deep plum color that goes great with darker Fall and Winter tones. To add some pizzazz I thought I’d try out my new nail embellishments I picked up at my local Forever 21. { I couldn’t find this exact product but they have similar kits here and here} It comes with 12 different gold and silver nail add-ons (for lack of a better word), varying from stars, to studs, and everything in between. The instructions that came with it say to wait until your nails are a little tacky and to put on the embellishment, adding only a coat of clear polish on top. I did this, and the studs came off within 20 minutes. To fix the problem, I instead glued them on my nail with eyelash glue, but I’m sure …

September Lust List {2013}

Every month I find myself obsessing over fashion magazines, blogs, and websites looking for new ways to amp up my life with, “I can’t live without this” items. Somewhere between my must read list and scarf rolodex, I tend to lose myself. So many new products can be a bit overwhelming, and really through me off from what I really want to add to my wardrobe, kitchen, bookshelf, makeup drawer… you get the idea. So, what’s a girl to do? Answer: Lust List. I’ve been making these since I got my first issue of Teen Vogue when I was a pre-teen. Back then I would cut out my favorite items and glue them to the pages of my N*sync notebook. I loved going through all of the things I wanted and learned how to find and style similar items. Since finding an N*sync notebook is a little harder these days,  I’ve opted to posting my lust items to my blog, which happens to much neater and less sticky. I’ve put together a list of my …
