Favorite {Drugstore} Fall Lip Colors

This Fall has just been one big experiment for me.

It’s my second year being in Indiana and now that I am used to the cold (it’s still in the 70’s in my hometown), I feel like I can fully appreciate what the Midwest Autumn has to offer. From the rich yellows, plums, and reds of the falling leaves to the crystal clear blues of the rivers and streams, I’m in awe. Mother Nature has completely outdone herself and it has inspired me to reflect these bold colors in my fashion and beauty choices.

The easier way to do this: lip color.

I’ve never personally ventured into the darker lip realm. Sure I’ll throw on a red lip occasionally {aka-Christmas and New Years} but I usually stick to nudes and pinks. Recently the change of weather has me feeling a little bold. {{Exciting!!}} Almost everyday I have done a neutral eye with bold lips. Not only have I gotten loads of complements, but I feel like a whole new person. Weird how that works, isn’t it?

I thought I’d share the lip products I’ve been gravitating towards since the change of weather and personal boldness.

CoverGirl LipPerfection in Entwined 340

This is a very pretty mauve color. I tend to reach for this color when I play up my eyes a little more. It complements my makeup without competing with my eyeshadow. I’m really pleased with the formula of this and am thinking about purchasing some more colors from this line.

Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids in Brazen Berry

Don’t let this bright shade of purple scare you! I was a little unsure when I first saw it but have been wanting to try a more true purple for a while and thought I’d give it a go. I was surprised at how great this looked on! To make it a little less dramatic, I apply it to my lips in a dabbing motion to lightening it up a little.

CoverGirl LipPerfection Jumbo Gloss Balm in Plum Twist

I am completely obsessed with this lip product!! Because it is a gloss balm, it is extremely moisturizing which is great for colder months. When my lips are too try for lipsticks, I reach for this gloss balm because it masks my cracked lips while still giving a great color. And my favorite part: it lasts sooo long!!! Perfect for a long day in lectures!

Revlon Color Burst Lip Butter in Candy Apple

Some days a red lip is essential, and on days like that I reach for this Candy Apple Red color. I like that it is a lighter shade of red and doesn’t look too vampy with my pale skin. It reminds me of the red color my lips turn after sucking on a cherry tootsie pop. Love it!

What are you favorite lip colors for this time of year?

Love, Calley Rae

I love this post! I have really been needing a little pick-me-up this fall. I don’t know if I’m “game” to try the purple lips but I’m sure going to give the mauve a shot. Like you, I usually go with lighter colors or just gloss. Thanks for the great advice you give. : )
