Popping Tags and Taking Names

I’ve been living in my new apartment for about a month now, and I can proudly say all of my boxes are unpacked and all my belongings are stowed neatly away. The tidiness will only last for so long-,-I’m the organized mess type–but I’m going to revel in the empty floor space for as long as I can.

The best part about being unpacked is being able to decorate!! I wanted to go with a really calm, relaxing vibe since my life is anything but. In my bedroom I’ve went with a gorgeous deep plum bedspread from Anthropologie. {I covet every single thing in that store, it’s one of my happy places.}

I have a few candles, picture frames, and trinkets, but am still on the hunt for some great pieces to add to bring it all together. Perusing local vintage and thrift shops has taken up a lot of my free time the past few days and I don’t mind one bit. I love riffling through the record bins and don’t even get me started on the hat section. Many of my most prized possessions come from vintage shops. Enter the beauty that is this jewelry box.

Now granted, I have no logical need for another jewelry box. At the moment all of my pieces are neatly tucked away into an awesomely large over the door mirror/jewelry closet of sorts. It’s spectacular and I have Santa to thank. But the moment I saw this jewelry box I couldn’t justify not purchasing it.

I have no idea how old it is, or who(m) had it before I did and thats kind of the reason I love it so much. With every scratch of metal and unpolished edge, a story is kept. What if this was Elizabeth Bennet’s jewelry box where she hid Darcy’s letter? (Yes, I realize these are two fictional character’s from one of the best novels of all time. My imagination clearly has no limit; deal with it.) So you can see why it was worth the oh so steep price of ten dollars. Don’t you just love thrift shop prices?!?

Right now it’s sitting pretty on my vanity, but I’m sure it will find its way to different parts of my room in time. It adds a romantic quality to the room that I wasn’t looking for, but fits nicely.

I hope to find more one of a kind pieces for my apartment, and when I do I’ll be sure to share them. To all my fellow thrifting sorcerers out there, happy hunting!!!

Love, Calley Rae
