August Favorites

August has brought on a lot of changes for me. I moved back to Indiana, into a new apartment with a new roommate, and had to learn how to use the city transit. FYI: it wasn’t as smelly as I thought, and is superb for people watching. It’s been a busy few weeks, but I have managed to find some new beauty and fashion related products. Here are my best of the best for the month!!

1.) The September issue of Vogue. It’s 902 pages of gloriousness boasts amaze-ball designer ads, a beautiful story about actress and cover model Jennifer Lawrence (pg. 790), and an incredible article about Amanda Lindhout (pg. 436), a woman who was kidnapped and held hostage in Somalia for 15 months! I picked the mag up in the airport and couldn’t put it down. It did add quite the weight to my carry on, but beauty is pain, right?

2.) Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray. Durring the hot summer months, I try to keep hot tools away from my hair as much as possible. A.) I’m lazy and B.) my bathroom can turn into a sauna in about two minutes. Luckily, “beach hair” is an acceptable alternative. NYM’s Sea Salt Spray texturizes my hair enough to give it that “just went surfing” look without it becoming a frizzy disaster. I love it!

3.) Revlon Color Burst Lip Butter in 027 Juicy Papaya. I picked this up at ULTA at the end of July, and have been sporting it nonstop since. I had been looking for an orange lip color for a while, but didn’t want to commit to something super bright. Baby steps, people. This lip butter is sheer enough to fit the bill, but has a great color payoff. It looks great during the day or for a night out. Not to mention, the consistency is to die for.

4.) I apparently spent a lot of time at the Revlon section of ULTA. I am kind of obsessed with their Colorstay Aqua Mineral Powder. It’s light enough to wear all day, but gives a good amount of coverage. I apply it over my foundation for night or wear it alone for a light coverage during the day. It’s also hydrating and feels great on the skin. Major bonus.

5.) I have been loving Maybelline’s The Falsies Volum’ Express Flared mascara this month. I picked it up at Target on a whim and am so happy I did. The curved applicator brush gets every lash for a super thick finish. I’ve gotten a lot of complements on my eyelashes lately, and I have this mascara to thank.

6.) Katy Perry Lashes by Eylure in Oh, Honey. When I saw these I knew I had to try them out. Mostly in part because Katy Perry is kind of everything, but also because I love me some fake lashes. The packaging is cute, and comes with everything you need if it’s your first time wearing falsies. They are dramatic enough to stand out, but don’t look like you are obviously wearing false lashes. Quick tip: they were a little long for my eyes, so I just trimmed off a piece of the ends and they fit perfectly!

7.) If I could be a bootie, I would be Jeffrey Campbell’s Everwell Cutout Ankle Boot. They look great with cut off’s and a crop top or a summer dress. The heel is the perfect height for day and they are incredibly comfortable. I’ve worn them pretty much all of August and think they will be easy to transition into Fall. Jeffrey Campell, you’ve done it again.

What’s some of your August Faves??

Love, Calley Rae
