The day we thought would never come is finally here. Spring has sprung and I could not be more excited! After what seemed like the longest winter of all time, we can finally bust out the florals and pastels. Goodbye gloves and hello crop tops!
In celebration of yesterday being the first day of Spring, I have put together some of my must haves for the warmer season. It will still be a little bit longer until it warms up here in the midwest, but I’m writing this in hopes that Mother Nature will see this post and decide to speed things up a bit. Maybe? Cross you fingers for me!
Pastel Polish! If you’re like me, you covet Katy Perry’s crazy cool nail art. While Pinterest makes at-home nail art look easy, us non-artistic polishers who can’t draw a straight line, let alone a red carpet ready manicure, are left with sticky fingers and lack luster nails. Ain’t Nobody Got Time For That! My solution: fun pastel colors. It’s springy, trendy, and super easy. Plus, when you chip your nail the day after polishing you won’t be pissed at the world for the next two hours. Check out these Butter London polishes here.
Peace out layers and layers of warmth and hello loose and light tees! Nothing is more comfortable than a loose fitting T-shirt, and it can be super trendy with the right pairings. I love graphic tees loosely tucked in shorts. It’s put together effortlessness, and I’m all about it. Grab this Wildfox tee here.
Give your girls a breather and pick up a bralette. Not only are they the most comfortable thing this side of yoga pants, but they are the perfect dainty addition to any top. Cut out backs aren’t going anywhere, so invest in a bralette to wear underneath to add some interest while still keeping the goods in place. Too busty for a bralette? First of all, I hate you and your amazing ladies. Secondly, pick up a pretty lacy bra instead. You get the added support while still having a pretty undergarment to show off. Best of both worlds? I think so! Pick it up here.
OK, just jump on the high-waisted cut off shorts train already! This staple from last summer has come back in full force, and if you don’t own any get off your computer right now and head down to your local thrift shop. Pops some tags and make your own. They are beyond simple to make and the best part is you can customize them any way you want. Girly? Add lace or pearl accents. Rocker? Studs will be your new best friend. Make them your own. The best part of all? Your one of a kind shorts will cost you less than 10 bucks. Score! Check out some different styles here.
Gemstones, Medallions, and Sun Gods, oh my! Boy did the Aztecs know a thing or two about jewelry! Make a statement with big, bold Aztec style necklaces, rings, and cuffs. They are instant conversation starters and a great way to bring together an outfit. Next stop: Coachella! Get one for yourself here.
Whats an awesome manicure if you aren’t wearing rings to show it off? Stacking rings is so in and so easy. Mixing and matching is perfect for the spring months. Get in your car, bus, subway, or helicopter and get your fashionable self to a store that has a plethora of different rings. Forever 21, H&M, and Brandy Melville are perfect starting places. Load up on some hand frosting , eat some FroYo, and call it a day. Pick some up via the internet here.
Not ready to give up your combat boots up yet? Me either. Lucky for us there is no rule against pairing your boots with shorts. This look is hipster meets soldier meets “my feet haven’t seen the light of day since last year”. Boots add a cool juxtaposition to the daintiness of Spring. I like to think of it as girly badass, and you bet your bottom dollar we can all rock it. Get these awesome Frye combat boots here.
Dora the Explorer would be beyond excited about this next trend. Backpacks are the new must have bag, and I couldn’t be more excited. I don’t know who made this happen, but I want to personally thank them for freeing up my hands and keeping me from giving half of my paycheck to my chiropractor. Everything from leather to paint splattered backpacks are available. Floral and pastel ones are perfect for Spring. Besides, everyone knows shopping for a new backpack each year was the best part of back to school shopping. Just try to stay away from the Lisa Frank bags, I know it’s hard but we can resist it together! I am a sucker for those cute puppies and colorful rainbows though…. Love this backpack? Pick it up here.
