Thanksgiving 2012-Washington, D.C.!!

Hello lovely people!

I’m back from my week off! I’ve been traveling like crazy over the last week, visiting friends and have not touched my laptop keyboard in quite some time. Needless to say my withdrawals are no more! I am back to typing with feverish fluidity!! (I had to throw a quote from my fav movie, A Christmas Story. It is the holiday season after all.)  Yay!

This last week was one of the best i’ve had in a while. With school, work, and everything in between I have been way too busy. It was great to take time to enjoy the little things. My system was in need of a serious reboot. This break could not have come at a better time!

On the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, I flew to Washington, D.C. where my great friend Kristi is studying. She’s a participant in the UC program there and is an intern at The Smithsonian Portrait Gallery. Needless to say she’s a BOSS!

We spent Thanksgiving day touring the city. I have been to D.C. twice before, but there is something magical about it during the holidays. The streets lights were dressed in holly and ribbons and the trees were sparkling with twinkle lights. The festive sights made the walk around the city bearable, even in cold weather and heels! It was amaze balls! Visiting the nation’s capitol during the holidays is a MUST!!

We went to all the major hot spots, like the Lincoln Memorial, the White House, Georgetown (where I ate, no devoured, the most mazing cupcake of all time from Georgetown Cupcakes, aka Dc Cupcakes for all you TLC watchers) and the Holocaust Museum. It was an incredibly successful trip and I cannot wait to go back.

Here are some pictures from the trip =]

Kristi and I at the White House, or as I call it Casa Blanca

We came across the most beautiful path when walking the National Mall. Perfect for a photo opt!

Possibly the most magnificent tree to every grace planet earth. (We couldn’t get much closer because there was a very mean squirrel who claimed the worlds most amazing tree as his own. Nice move, Mr. Squirrel.)

Washington Monument
Had to get in a quick mediation sesh at the FDR Memorial

And a little Captain Morgan pose in front of the water fall.

I had such a great time with one of my dearest friends! Big shout out to Kristi for showing me such a magnificent time! Hope you all had an equally amazing Thanksgiving!!

Love, Calley Rae
